Sandra Kuhn, MSW, LLMSW
‹‹ backSandra is committed to finding a connection with each individual, creating the basis of a safe environment for the working relationship. Her work with children, adults and families focuses on identifying individual strengths and supports, building on those strengths and providing skills-based coaching to enable more positive experiences within the family, in school and with peers. A strengths-based perspective is a fundamental passion.
Sandra provides counseling to individuals and groups for anxiety, depression, alcohol and chemical dependencies, as well as social and interpersonal challenges.
Her life experiences, and a devotion to continued study and training, supports the work she does with individuals and families who have been touched by adoption and may experience challenges due to underlying disability, attachment, trauma and grief.
As a certified trainer and facilitator for the Children’s Friendship Training program (Frankl & Myatt, 2003), an evidence-based social skills program for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), she runs twelve-week groups to assist children and parents with learning, or improving upon, these important skills.
Sandra holds a Limited License Master of Social Work – Clinical (LLMSW) and a Master of Social Work degree from Grand Valley State University. She is a Certified FASD Trainer and provides training to other mental health professionals in Michigan. Sandra has published research on the topic of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and currently is a member of the State of Michigan FASD Task Force.
